Called The Water's Edge because of its location at the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, this lovely and comfortable three-bedroom, four-bath lies within Key West's prestigious Truman Annex gated community. The entire rear of the home opens through glass and French doors to a screened porch, a beautiful wooden deck, lush gardens, a triangle-shaped heated pool with massage water jets, a barbeque and eating area, and hammocks and chairs strategically placed for lounging. The second and third floors open onto rear balconies, the third affording spectacular sunset and water views. A spiral staircase runs up through the back porch and deck above to the third floor deck for outside access. The almost seamless integration of outside and inside makes this the picture perfect place to enjoy a tropical vacation.

But let's start at the front. The stately home sits among other similarly noteworthy homes on a private landscaped cul-de-sac. From the pavement, you see that The Water's Edge is two plus stories with a front balcony on the second floor. Open the gate of the white picket fence into a small front garden of palms, some taller than the home and some low enough to drape their vibrant green dramatically over the white pickets. A brick walkway leads among the palms to the bricked-in driveway and carport. The driveway has an electronic gate for convenience and security. Up four steps there's a front porch featuring two chairs and table and a little further back, a delightful hanging swing for two. The overhang from the second story balcony affords cover for the porch area.

From the front door, the open floor plan and copious glass allows you to look through to the porch, deck, and pool. Over the natural stone tile flooring, immediately to the left, is an L-shaped desk with computer, printer and space left over for writing. Next the living area offers attractive and comfy couches and chairs for watching TV or movies on the large flat-screen hanging on one wall. Or sit here to enjoy conversation with family and friends. Or just look out to enjoy the tranquility of your tropical garden. Lamps, coffee table, side tables, and a Moroccan ceiling light/fan complete the ambience. High ceilings throughout add to a sense of openness and spaciousness. Of course there's cable, wireless high-speed Internet, and a DVD player.

The dining area features a glass-top table and chairs with a pendant chandelier above. To the right is a delightful kitchen done in whites with natural wood accents. The granite counter circles the kitchen and forms a breakfast bar on the dining area side where six bar stools stand ready for you to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or your favorite smoothie. The kitchen is brightly lit and has everything you'd need to whip up a gourmet meal or just heat leftovers from dinner the night before. The kitchen is large enough to also provide a round table and chairs at its center with an old Florida ceiling fan humming above. Near the kitchen are a unique Lazy Susan pantry and a laundry closet with new stacked washer/dryer. Also here is where you'll find a full bath for use as you come out of the pool or from any room on the first floor.

Upstairs the distinguished master bedroom includes a door to the deck and water views. The room is large and features a king bed, side tables and lamps, and a large dresser with eight drawers for your foldable items. In the corner by the dresser stands a small refrigerator for chilling beverages and snacks. Next are windows and a pair of French doors opening to the generous deck overlooking the pool area and saltwater. A pair of overstuffed chairs provides seating and the hutch allows more drawer space. The en suite full bath has granite counters, linen closet, another closet for hanging items, shower, toilet, bidet, and a door to the front balcony.

One guest room, also on the second floor, provides two twin beds, ceiling fan, and French doors opening to the deck. A large flat-screen hangs on the wall and is easily viewable from both beds. This room also provides plenty of drawer and hanging space for clothing and travel items. It includes an en suite full bath with a door opening to the front balcony.

The third bedroom is up one more short flight of stairs. This floor includes a full bed located in easy view of a flat-screen TV, full bath, refrigerator, microwave, and closet. The door opens to the third-floor deck and the most spectacular views of the water beyond. Sit here during the day to soak up some sun or later with your evening cocktail to witness the amazing color display splashed across the southern sky as the sun slip below the horizon. It's an experience you won't soon forget.

Steps from your door you can enjoy the manicured landscaping, verdant palms, and interconnecting pathways that give your Truman Annex neighborhood its park-like atmosphere. Stroll out the private gates to find yourself immersed in the sights and sounds of downtown tourist attractions, Key West's best beaches, and Old Town's fabulous restaurants. Check out the tours, museums, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with open-air seating, some right on the water. And although you have the best seat for sunset on your deck at The Water's Edge, you might stroll down to Mallory Square to enjoy the after-sunset party where artists and street performers entertain the crowd.

This home requires a 7 night minimum year round and Saturday to Saturday rentals during season.
