Lovely, comfortable and relaxing, this 1,000 sq. ft. apartment (sleeps 5) is part of a two-family midcentury-modern villa on a quiet residential street in the Bolognina (Little Bologna) area close to many of the city’s attractions and transportation. An independent-access hallway and one easy flight of stairs leads you into your home away from home, which features two bedrooms and a full bathroom; a well-equipped kitchen that a serious cook would enjoy; a living room/dining room; parquet floors throughout; and a private balcony facing a quiet street. Bicycles are available on the property to explore the neighborhood and historic center, or ride and park at the Bologna Central rail station, high speed rail exit, just 20 blocks away (you can even be in Florence in as little as 35 minutes)
This home has all the little things that count: abundant wardrobe closets and storage space; good lighting; screened, soundproof, shuttered windows; a library of books; a hair dryer, good soap and adapter plugs; linens (even wash cloths); beach towels for poolside lounging, satellite TV; and WIFI.
The apartment is a walk or short bike ride to the city’s historic center, the central rail station (offering high-speed rail service to Florence, Venice, Rome, Milan and elsewhere), and a seven-minute car/taxi ride to Bologna’s airport. Nearby attractions include the famous museums of the historic center, neighborhood outdoor markets, flea markets, the Hippodrome. Less than 5 minutes away is the newly renovated canal area, near former 19th century ironworks which now host free summer-evening entertainment, and of course the Bologna Trade Fair (Fiera) .
When you aren’t exploring, enjoy the beautiful garden (which offers seasonal fresh herbs and fruit) or relax at the 12’x40’ pool (open from May to mid-Sept.; pool shared with owner) with outdoor shower.
