The Coolest Things to Do in Brooklyn Today (2019
"Take the L to Williamsburg and hop off at Bedford Ave and you’ll be just a couple blocks from Brooklyn Brewery. The craft brewer hosts a small batch tour that’s a must at just $18 for two hours of drinking and learning (the kind you'll actually enjoy). Book ahead—or prepare yourself for around-the-block lines if you wait—and you’ll get four very generous tastings (plus a glass that's yours to keep) of just-tapped varieties like their flagship Brooklyn Lager and farmhouse Sorachi Ace Saison, as well as seasonal pours like Brooklyn Summer Ale."

Learn how the hops are made and the history of the company that started out as a 1-man home micro brewery before expanding into the success that you see today. You can also visit the taproom after the tour to try some of the craft beers but there is a..."

"East WilliamsburgAt Grimm’s sleek brewery in East Williamsburg you will find sours, farmhouse ales, and funky lambics all bottled up alongside canned IPAs and ales. Grimm was once known as a brewery without a brick and mortar location of its own, but now they’re known for on-trend design both inside its minimalist space and emblazoned on the side of cans. How to order: Pickup at the brewery, delivery via GrubHub and Caviar, or shipping across New York state via website"

"The home of these longtime gypsy brewers is probably the most aesthetically pleasing brewery I have ever set foot in. If you're looking to go on a beer date, this is the spot. The space might come off a bit Williamsburg-pretentious at first to a brewery traditionalist, but the beer speaks for itself."

The best restaurants and bars in the Bronx
"Since Rheingold closed shop in the late '60s, beer has been produced outside of the borough—City Island brews upstate, and Bronx Brewery trucks in kegs from Connecticut. At this 5,000-square-foot draft operation, Chris Sheehan (Chelsea Brewing Co.) makes all beer on-site, turning out a 30-barrel lineup of German-style ales, hearty stouts and Frosted Hop ale, made with frozen upstate wet hops. The dark-wood taproom functions as a 25-seat bar and retail shop—a perk of a farm brewery license, which also requires Sheehan use local ingredients—that sells pints, flights and to-go growlers."

"Gun Hill is a Bronx-based brewery operating out of Williamsbridge, and they also have a bar in Mott Haven called Gun Hill Tavern. It’s a plain, relatively quiet space with concrete floors, and they serve a small menu of standard tavern stuff like mozzarella sticks wings. But mostly you come here to drink beer, specifically Gun Hill Beer, like their Void Of Light stout with notes of coffee, chocolate, and pretty much everything else that’s brown and pleasantly bitter."

What Should We Do?
"As a decade-long resident of Astoria, I must pay homage to SingleCut Beersmiths. This taproom looks like it used to be a band rehearsal space, but then that band got really good at brewing beer. (The name is even derived from a term used in guitar making!) Founder Rich Buceta weaves his love of music with his obsession with hops, with guitar-shaped headstock tap handles, excellently curated tunes (chosen from a collection of more than 1,000 vinyls), and clever beer names referencing certain lyrics and musicians."

"Singlecut was Queens’ first microbrewery and was actually the first to open after Prohibition. Their draft list is extensive and they also have a selection of house canned beers.
