Using fresh ingredients from local farms and the restaurant’s organic garden, the Tiny Diner is a great spot for breakfast with classic dishes and creative plates such as buttermilk pancakes and breakfast burritos, kale soup and corned beef hash, burgers and fries, and gourmet sandwiches. Also on the menu are three-egg omelets with a variety of fillings, egg sandwiches, house-made granola, breakfast of champions, mac, and cheese, and macro bowls of avocado, roasted root vegetables, broccoli, kale and tofu, kimchi, and wild rice."

You Have to Try These Top Minneapolis Brunch Spots
"Hi-Lo serves a large variety of brunch food, but their signature dish is a Hi-Top. Hi-Tops are donuts topped with a variety of things(from fried chicken to strawberries and cream cheese.) Most everything on the menu is very decadent and heavy, which goes along well with the diner feel of the Minneapolis restaurant. Their cocktails are so creative and unique, which is not at all what you'd expect from a typical diner."

"This 1950s-style diner is Minneapolis’ version of Pop’s from Riverdale. The Hi-Lo Diner is a modern take on typical greasy diner food, like donut sandwiches, avocado benedict, and creative cocktails. It’s near the airport, so it’s an ideal stop on your way in or out of town."

22 Best Breakfast & Weekend Brunch Restaurants in Minneapolis, MN
"Founded in 1939, the Band Box Diner is the oldest operating diner in the Elliot Park neighborhood of Minneapolis and has grown from a small eatery serving all-American fare to a chain of 15 restaurants around the city. Modeled after the White Castle restaurants, the restaurant featured a classic interior with an open kitchen, a Formica counter, and fixed stainless-steel stools and was renowned for being the hangout for infamous Minneapolis gangsters in the 1930s and 1940s. Today, the diner still attracts a crowd, but more so for the laid-back, friendly atmosphere and classic diner fare of three-egg omelets, burgers, and fries, hearty sandwiches with various fillings, breakfast combo plates stacked high with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and grits, pancakes, and waffles."

Best Breakfast in the Twin Cities: Our Local's Awards
"A post shared by Richard Lafleur (@richard.lafleur) on Mar 10, 2020 at 10:50am PDT. Originally opened in 1939, Band Box Diner has a long and wild history that includes a rapid chain-franchise expansion through the 1950s, failure in the 1960s, and passionate restoration in the 1990s. Safe to say, the restaurant’s come a long way since the days when it was a favorite hangout for card-playing gangsters."

The Best Breakfast and Brunch Spots in the Twin Cities
"The Band Box is the oldest operating diner in Minneapolis, the OG of a local chain that began in 1939. (The other outlets have all disappeared.) And yet you may have missed it all this time: The Band Box abides in a part of downtown that doesn’t see a ton of action. Which suits this place just great."

"There are just 14 stools inside this tiny breakfast and lunch spot on Northeast’s Central Avenue. Built in 1949, the blinking bulbs on the distinctive red, yellow, and turquoise sign rightly suggest eating here. Come for the massive pancake for just $1.50, or the Friday-night fish fry—the only night the Ideal serves dinner."

Battered and craggy chicken-fried steak with two runny eggs and hash browns is that meal."

We’ve only tried a few things from the menu but can heartily endorse the giant German pretzel with beer cheese ($8, add $2.50 for that cheese) or the sinful Chimay burger ($13). Minneapolis Gluten-Free and Vegan Bakeries with the Most Options
"In south Minneapolis is this totally vegan bakery and they’ve got plenty for you to choose from including many gluten-free options. For owner Shelia Nelson, baking vegan goods started off a just a hobby, but as she kept getting more and more request decided it was finally time to open up a store front. Vegan East has an assortment of tasty treats, but what will impress you the most is just how beautifully decorated the cakes and cupcakes are."
