Guide to Restaurants in Healdsburg
"If a bakery has been open since 1923, as this one has, it has to be doing something right. Just one example of that something is pie, made with wholesome fresh ingredients including pure butter, farm fresh eggs, real vanilla, and unbleached flour. Classic fruit pies are deep-dish 8-inch flaky buttery crust models with seasonal fruits like pumpkin."

"Costeaux is the sweetest French bakery that I love to stop by for brunch (I love their quiche) or afternoon coffee and a treat. They also so boxed lunches, so it’s a perfect spot to pick up a delicious sandwich to enjoy at one of the many Healdsburg tasting rooms that offer outdoor seating for picnics."

"Locals flock to this open-air bistro at lunchtime for the chicken salads, French onion soup, and the artisan breads. We like to order the Cousteau French Dip, with thinly sliced rib eye, Roquefort aioli, and caramelized onions on a classic sourdough roll."

"This was our third time staying at the Vintner’s Resort, and first time in one of the new buildings. I can’t decide which I like better. The resort’s buildings are arranged to resemble a Tuscan village. The original section of the resort oozes charm, with ivy covering the walls of the buildings. The newer section has a more contemporary feel with more contemporary furnishings. You can’t go wrong with either, but I think I prefer the newer buildings (numbered 800 & 900) because of the bathroom. It is stunning. A spacious walk in shower. Double vanity. And separate water closet. We always book a king bed with fireplace. This type of room means you will be on the second floor and will have a small balcony. We had coffee on our balcony every morning and enjoyed the quiet sunrise and vineyard view. It was exactly why we were visiting the wine country . . . . such an ambiance. The Vintner’s Resort is owned by the same family that owns Ferrari Carano winery. If you have visited the winery, you know they know how to bring the charm and elegance. A welcome bottle of their wine is provided in each room. It is complimentary, along with water and soft drinks. Take a glass of the wine with you and wonder though the resort’s vineyard for a pleasant walk. The resort takes COVID precautions seriously. The bathrobes are sealed in plastic, as are the ironing board and iron. Housekeeping does not come into your room during your stay unless you call and request something. If service is requested, housekeeping will come only when you are out of the room, for contactless service/delivery. The resort is pricey. But, ooohh, those extra fluffy towels and soft bed are worth it. Be sure to look for specials or email the resort and inquire, because with COVID, entertainment restrictions and the fires, occupancy is down and they are offering some fantastic deals. The spa is closed until restrictions are relaxed by the county, so we missed out on services, but we look forward to returning to enjoy the spa, and some more of this beautiful resort’s hospitality. ""The Vintners Inn (now called Vintners Resort) is an oasis just north of Santa Rosa near the heart of Sonoma County wine country. Conveniently located immediately off of Highway 101 but you would not know it was so close because of their expertly designed landscaping and their somewhat European, separately placed one- or two-level buildings. Lots to see and do here. Someone put a lot of thought into the layout. Very relaxing place to stay for several nights. They recently expanded the Inn with a spectacular spa which probably prompted them to change the name to a “resort”. Rather pricey, but worth the splurge for special occasions. We’ve been there over a half dozen times and will return.""We stayed at the Vintner's Inn by mistake - and couldn't have been happier! The rooms were lovely - ask for one overlooking the fountains. There was even a small room with tea all day long where we played cards in the evening and a fireplace (It rained the whole time we were there so the warmth was welcome.)The front desk staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The food in all the restaurants was outstanding. We will go back in warm weather to experience the rest of the amenities!"

"OK, we almost lost our minds when we discovered this place: only in Healdsburg would you find a pie bar that makes crust from old-world grains like bolero, faro, and buckwheat, and pairs them with mind-blowing, homemade artisanal ice cream flavors like pumpkin chocolate and corn flake crown maple. The staff especially recommends the following pairings: spiced apple pie with salted caramel ice cream, lemon custard pie with lemon lavender ice cream, or the maple chocolate walnut pie with organic vanilla bean ice cream. We're here for all of them."

"Within the massive food hall is SHED Café, Coffee Bar, and Fermentation Bar. Here, you can have a pastry to go or order a plate of breakfast to enjoy inside the premises. As you will be tasting wine all day (as you do in the wine country) order lunch for takeout as many wineries allow you to enjoy an outdoor picnic."
