Ybor City

With Tampa's proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and its deep-water port, cigar manufacturing began to flourish here, as did preparations for the Spanish American war. Cigar manufacturing moved from Key West to Tampa City and put its development center in Ybor City. With the development of this industry, a large number of immigrants came from Cuba, Italy, Germany, and Spain, and brought their own languages, traditions and eating styles into the city. Among them, Cuban culture has a far-reaching influence on the region. So far, the descendants of Cubans still abide by their national traditions. Although cigar factories no longer exist, Cuban restaurants, fragrant coffee roasters, cigar shops, and the annual Latin Festival still remain in this land. At that time, there was a colorful building near the cigar factory. Now it has been occupied by Centro Ybor, which integrates leisure and entertainment. The baking workshop then became Ybor City Museum State Park.
